The article shows that the policies of the representatives of the Ashtarkhanid dynasty in the military sphere resulted in changes specific to the period in the defense of the country’s borders, the order of troop mobilization, military weapons, and discipline, and their causes and consequences are explained with specific examples. The tasks of military administration, khan, council, administrative-military, and military positions during the Ashtarkhanid dynasty are presented. It is noted that the total army that could be mobilized in military situations during the Ashtarkhanid dynasty amounted to 60 thousand people. The causes, consequences, and changes in the social protection and defense potential of the army are presented and conclusions are drawn.
