This release implements the Phase-1 Vertical Reference Slice (S1) and demonstrates a complete scientific workflow, including benchmark configuration, execution, provenance generation, validation, and reproducible verification. Rather than proposing a new Early Warning Signal theory, the software serves as an open reference implementation of the BenchEWS Metrological Specification, providing a reproducible foundation for the objective evaluation and comparison of EWS indicators. The current release intentionally supports only the S1 reference system. Additional reference systems (e.g. S2), extended benchmark scenarios, and graphical user interfaces are explicitly outside the scope of this release and are planned for future versions. This software is intended for researchers working in complex systems, dynamical systems, statistics, physics, climate science, ecology, engineering, and computational science who require reproducible benchmark infrastructures for Early Warning Signal research.
