Its purpose is not to introduce new mathematics or a new theoretical framework, but to provide a standardized evaluation pipeline that enables fair and transparent comparison of competing methods under identical experimental conditions. BenchEWS integrates standardized reference dynamical systems, controlled observation scenarios, a unified execution environment, and reproducible performance metrics into a common benchmarking workflow. The infrastructure supports transparent comparisons, independent replication, and the gradual development of community standards for evaluating adaptive observation and early-warning algorithms. The report positions BenchEWS as an engineering research infrastructure for reproducible computational science and Open Science, with the long-term goal of supporting internationally comparable benchmark studies in adaptive observation and early-warning signal research.
