This research aims to investigate the complex mechanisms of attenuation and intensification in an oral judicial corpus. Thus, based on the corpus published in Ridao Rodrigo (2010), a quantitative and qualitative analysis of constructions is provided in which some form of the verb remember appears. It is observed that on certain occasions the same mechanisms are used as an attenuating resource and on others as an intensifying resource. In short, the need to analyze the communicative context is underlined when assessing whether it is a mechanism of attenuation or intensification.
