The FragaSyst project focused on the "spring strawberries" niche and took place from 2018 to 2023. This DEPHY EXPE project aimed to achieve the dual objective of (1) evolving current production systems towards agro-ecological soilless strawberry production systems that only use synthetic pesticides as a last resort to approach a Pesticide Application Frequency (PAF) of 0, and (2) ensuring economic profitability of the production. In order to meet these objectives, innovative approaches were combined within 6 systems representative of the main spring strawberry production conditions in France and monitored by 5 partners located in main region (particularly Southwest, in Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne, Brittany, Center, PACA). The objective of achieving a PAF of 0 was reached in 100 % of the cold crop systems, but only in 15 % of the heated crop systems. In this niche, the pests requiring the use of synthetic pesticides were aphids and powdery mildew.
