It can be said that the work of recording and studying on Tibetan literature written by Mongolians, began in the latter half of the last century. Samaagiin Gombojav, the khamba lama of Gandantegchenlin Monastery, presented a paper entitled “Tibetan literature composed by Mongolians” at the First Conference of Scholars for Mongolian Studies held in 1959. This presentation presented an overview of the Tibetan writings works written by over 208 Mongolian lamas. In the article of S.Gombojav, only one monk from the Khorchin region is mentioned by name. In addition, it is known that there were many lama scholars in the Khorchin region who wrote their works in Tibetan, including Janagpa Jamyandambinyam, the khamba lama of Ar Khorchin region, shavrun Jamyandambijantsan, the 51st khamba lama of the Medical College of Gunbum Monastery, Ar Khorchin Ishjamts, monk of Ar Khorchin Monastery, lama Prinlaijamts who wrote biography of Ishjamts. We have also other records that the leraned lamas such as Tseden Lharamba of Uzemchin region, Doyodtsultim, the 6th khamba lama of Kalachakra College of Lavran Monastery, Agvanpuntsag, the 7th khamba lama of Kalachakra College of Lavran Monastery, and Luvsanlunrignyam, the 4th Deti incarnation, were invited as spiritual teacher in the Khorchin region, wrote their works, and preached their teachings in this region. In this article, we aim to present the content of the biography of Khorchinba Ishjamts (1860-1921), who has two-volume work written in Tibetan, “The Biography of Great Lama Ishjamts, The Story of the Greatest Lama, Reciter of the hundred-fold dharma, Teacher of incomparable teachings” and to introduce this work into research field.
