Abstract: This article, titled The Symbolism of Berber Silver Patterns in Kabyle Jewelry from TiziOuzou: A Theoretical Approach to Cultural and Social Dynamics, offers a theoretical analysis of the symbolism embedded in the patterns found on Berber silver jewelry, with a specific focus on Kabyle jewelry from the TiziOuzou region in Algeria. Its primary aim is to explore the role of these patterns in expressing the cultural, social, and symbolic identity of the Berber communities in this region. The article seeks to highlight the profound meanings of the patterns used in crafting Kabyle jewelry while analyzing their role in preserving cultural traditions and adapting to contemporary challenges. Additionally, it examines how these artistic and functional patterns convey messages of ethnic belonging, spiritual protection, and social status within Kabyle society.Berber silver jewelry, especially from TiziOuzou, carries a rich history marked by multiple influences, ranging from local traditions to cultural exchanges. These jewelry pieces, adorned with geometric and symbolic patterns, serve as precious witnesses to Kabyle history and culture. The motifs on these artisanal creations are considered meaningful elements, incorporating ancestral symbols tied to protection, fertility, love, and collective identity.The central question driving this article is:How do the patterns on Berber silver jewelry, particularly from TiziOuzou, act as vehicles of Kabyle culture and society? Furthermore, how do these artisanal objects continue to reflect the cultural and social dynamics of the region despite social and economic changes?Preliminary findings indicate that these jewelry pieces are not merely decorative but hold a strong social and identity-related function, contributing to community cohesion and the transmission of cultural values. The article offers fresh perspectives on the significance of Kabyle silver jewelry by addressing not only their aesthetic aspect but also their profound role in structuring the social and cultural life of Berber communities. This theoretical work enriches the understanding of pattern symbolism and opens avenues for preserving and promoting Berber heritage.To complement the theoretical analysis, a field study involving interviews, observations, and surveys in TiziOuzouwas conducted to assess the persistence and reinterpretation of traditional motifs in contemporary contexts.
