Abstract

We report the measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating angle \ensuremathγ through a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral D-meson decays to KS0\ensuremathπ+\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath- and KS0K+K^\ensuremath- produced in the processes B^\ensuremath∓\ensuremath→DK^\ensuremath∓, B^\ensuremath∓\ensuremath→D*K^\ensuremath∓ with D*\ensuremath→D\ensuremathπ0, D\ensuremathγ, and B^\ensuremath∓\ensuremath→DK^*\ensuremath∓ with K^*\ensuremath∓\ensuremath→KS0\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath∓, using 468 million BB pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e^\ensuremath- collider at SLAC. We measure \ensuremathγ=(68\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi14\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi4\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi3)\ifmmode^∘\else\textdegree\fi (modulo 180\ifmmode^∘\else\textdegree\fi), where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third reflects the uncertainty in the description of the neutral D decay amplitudes. This result is inconsistent with \ensuremathγ=0 (no direct CP violation) with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations.
