This scoping review took stock of current research on empathy education in physical education. We reviewed five databases: ERIC, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, SportDiscus and Psychinfo; the keywords- “Empathy” AND “physical education” were applied. A five-step methodological framework, including PRISMA, was used. From 210 articles, 21 were selected and analyzed. Our analysis reveal various teaching strategies: cooperative learning, role-playing, service learning, and artistic or reflective practices. These studies showed improvement in emotional understanding, school climate, and prosocial behavior. However, empathy education remains primarily addressed from an emotional and cognitive perspective. This review highlights the need for conceptual clarification and more precise tools and methods to implement effective empathy education.
