This article details Fulton Library’s successful social media strategy at Utah Valley University. By leveraging trending content and an entertainment-first approach, the library increased its Instagram following from 1,100 to 11,300 between spring 2022 and fall 2024. Their strategy focused on creating engaging, humorous, and relatable posts that resonated with students, leading to higher engagement and increased use of library services. The article emphasizes the importance of leaning in to how students actually use social media (i.e., for entertainment rather than information-gathering purposes), while using trends to make academic resources appealing and accessible.
