Abstract

The reaction of the ionic liquid [NEt 3 Me][Cl 3 ] with white phosphorus (P 4 ) gives, quantitatively, hexachlorophosphate [NEt 3 Me][PCl 6 ], which shows similar reactivity as PCl 5 and can be used as a potential PCl 3 -storage material.
