Abstract

<h3>Abstract :</h3> What interests us about Sa&iuml;d&#39;s colossal body of work is that it is dependent, among other things, on the writings of Antonio Gramsci, one of the great Italian thinkers of the early 20th century. It was in the Cahiers de prison that Sa&iuml;d found the answer to the taboo of exclusivity that struck the detractor that he was, the richness of taking stock of the strata of his vital experience, and the fruitfulness of the Gramscian concept of hegemony. In addition, Gramsci reinforced his awareness of how language functions on both utilitarian and aesthetic levels, on both its superficial and latent levels.
