Gramsci est un point de repère essentiel pour cette tentative d’imaginer une histoire politique dans un pays où Benedetto Croce exerce son hégémonie sur l’historiographie politique. La confrontation avec Croce suit deux directions. La première direction correspond à la tentative de renouveler les thèmes de recherche de l’historiographie politique en se tournant vers l’étude des classes subalternes, selon une approche qui s’inspire du marxisme et qui aurait été impensable sans le contact avec une réalité historique explosive comme l’émergence, après vingt ans de fascisme, de formes organisées de lutte de classe. La seconde direction concerne l’historiographie du fascisme, que Benedetto Croce a fondée sur le critère selon lequel ce phénomène politique aurait constitué une parenthèse dans l’histoire italienne. <h3>Abstract :</h3> Gramsci is an essential point of reference for this attempt to imagine a political history in a country where Benedetto Croce exerts his hegemony over political historiography. The confrontation with Croce follows two directions. The first is the attempt to renew the research themes of political historiography by turning to the study of subaltern classes, with an approach inspired by Marxism that would have been unthinkable without contact with an explosive historical reality such as the emergence, after twenty years of fascism, of organized forms of class struggle. The second direction concerns the historiography of Fascism, which Benedetto Croce based on the criterion that this political phenomenon constituted a parenthesis in Italian history.
