The article provides an overview of a study that examined the job preferences of people belonging to Generation Z conducted in April 2023. The purpose of the study was to provide officials involved in recruitment information about the explicit and implicit job expectations of graduates from the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences and to provide recommendations to the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) and the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences on how to develop a more effective recruitment process. The study focused on the expectations of Police and Border Guard College (PPK) graduates regarding their future employers and what factors should be considered when recruiting members of Generation Z. The study also assessed the readiness of PPK graduates to work in Ida-Viru County. The study involved a survey of 55 PPK students and interviews with four PPA specialists in the field, who all possess extensive experience and expertise in recruitment. The survey results provided direct feedback on the recruitment process, while the expert interviews highlighted their perceptions of the recruitment process and the specific characteristics of Generation Z entering the labour market.
