Abstract

The RED-SPyCE project objectified the performances and virtues of crop livestock systems (CLS), which are one of the possible models for the agroecology transition. An original method of statistical analysis showed that CLS does not disappear, but it transforms. Foresight workshops of regional expert groups supported by bioeconomic simulations have highlighted that CLS is a system of the future. A method for characterizing the integration between crops and livestock units has been proposed and implemented in a self-diagnosis tool, called NICC’EL. Analysis of the INOSYS databases showed that high integration improves the economic and environmental performances of farms and stabilizes their income. These systems are sustainable considering their workload, but the balance with the available workforce is sometimes fragile. Deliverables for advice and training are available online via a CLS « loving dictionary »
