In 2024, the world community celebrates the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. This document, adopted in 1984, was the basis for a global fight against torture and an important step in the promotion of human rights. This article analyses the achievements, challenges and prospects of implementing the Convention in the modern world.
