The attitudes of academic teachers over 55 towards each other as an occupational group and their work is the the subject of the study. The conducted research aimed at answering the question of the attitude towards employing academic teachers over 55 years presented by the academic community in Poland and outside Poland (on the example of a Greek university). The empirical part of the research presents the results of in-depth interviews conducted on a group of 48 academic teachers from three Polish universities (two public and one private) and from a Greek public university. The research has shown positive attitudes of academic teachers over 55 towards each other, their work, and employing other academic teachers. Among the factors that could improve the quality of life of the occupational group in question are material resources mentioned by many respondents. Deficiency of the resources is cyclical in nature and it is strictly related to the current condition of higher education in Poland and Greece.
