In the context of the European Green Deal, the Common Agricultural Policy for the period 2023-2027 proposes a global ambition for agro-ecological transition that each country can adapt to its national needs. The example of the implementation of the CAP in France is discussed in this paper, which is the synthesis of a round table, to determine whether the trajectory of French agriculture will enable it to meet the climate and environmental challenges. The discussion revealed contrasting points of view among agricultural professionals, and a demand for commitment from the entire research and development system to provide the tools and resources for a massive agroecological transition in French agriculture.
