In the broader field of applied music, film music stands out due to its relevance, and consequently, it has developed into a major creative work of composition. However, despite more than a century of evolution, many theoretical aspects of film music are still open. This article attempts to examine one of the concepts, namely the formation of a national style in applied music in a film school in Uzbekistan. Examining the genres of film music in Uzbekistan, we relied on the method of holistic analysis of musical works, which is widespread in music science. A single analysis of the video and audio sequences made it possible to identify the uniqueness of Uzbekistan’s compositional school, which lies above all in the fact that the artists have always demonstrated adherence to national traditions. The authors, using film music by A. Malakhov, R. Vildanov and F. Yanov-Yanovskiy as examples, studied issues of national style formation in works where the composer is obeyed to comply with the subject and director’s dramaturgy. Based on the data obtained, the concept of adaptation of stylistic levels of non-autonomous music was determined and classification tables were developed that structure the means of musical expression used by Uzbek composers.
