Abstract

In 1616, Jurchin tribes established the Latter Golden Khanate in North Eastern Asia. During its further development, 24 Banners had been functioning as the core of the imperial organization. Those 24 Banners consisted of eight Jurchin, eight Mongol, and eight Chinese banners [Mark C Elliot 2005]. Especially the Mongol bannermen played anirreplaceable role in the imperial relations with various kin-based polities of Inner and Central Asia, who were submitted to the Qing or did not come into contact with Manchus yet [Nobuaki Murakami]. Although many Mongols had served the Daiching Ulus or the Qing Empire [Munkh-Erdene Lhamsuren 2020], it is rare to find the literary works of the pastoralist Mongol bannermen [Walther Heissig 1962]. Fortunately, there is a book that refers to the intellectual culture of the Mongol officials of the Qing Empire. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Professor Gunbileg Disan, who helped me to acquire this valuable manuscript from the Black Diamond Library. We will discuss how this manuscript came to Denmark, first. What is the contents, who was the author, and what was his purpose in writing this book will be my main discussion here. Finally, I would like to summarize the structure of this manuscript.
