The article presents an integrated conceptual model designed to explain parliamentary corruption. The model was developed by combining three central approaches – institutional theory, rational choice theory, and the trust violation model – within a broader political and societal context. The resulting framework enables the study of parliamentary corruption across different levels and factors through a coherent explanatory logic. The model is not yet empirically tested; instead, its application is illustrated with a hypothetical case of misuse of expense allowances. This initial application demonstrates the model’s potential and opens new research questions and methodological avenues for further investigation. The article’s contribution lies in the theoretical synthesis and integration of existing theories, demonstrating their applicability, and opening new research directions in the study of parliamentary corruption.
