L’art est un des territoires de la figure, qui s’y décline en élaborant des liens avec la figuration, le figural ou la défiguration. Une articulation entre ce champ lexical et des exemples d’œuvres artistiques permet d’expliciter les nuances de ces termes. Des nuances qui explorent autant la figure indicielle, c’est-à-dire la simple trace, que les degrés de la narration qui transforme la figure soit en un « thème-cadre », soit en un hiéroglyphe codifié, soit en un symbole ou une allégorie puis qui développe la figure en écho d’une autre figure. Abstract Art is one of the territories of the figure, which is expressed through links with figuration, the figural or disfiguration. Linking this lexical field to examples of artistic works helps to clarify the nuances of these terms. Nuances that explore both the indicial figure, i.e. the simple trace, and the degrees of narration that transform the figure into either a "framework theme", a codified hieroglyph, a symbol or an allegory, and then develop the figure as an echo of another figure.
