The article is devoted to the study of the reasons for the decline in the popularity of library spaces among modern users. The article examines the current state and role of libraries in society, as well as new approaches to designing spaces that would meet the current needs of the audience. The authors analyze the most frequently used library redesign solutions and discuss the effectiveness of their use. The article examines in detail the current trends in the development and modernization of the image of libraries, including the importance of integrating the latest digital technologies not only into the system of storing and searching books, but also into the system of interaction with the visitor. The authors identify the main techniques that help to change the perception of libraries in the eyes of visitors. Using the example of modern library spaces, trends in design and design are identified, and the importance of modernization in the current economic environment is emphasized.
