Abstract

We prove the following result: If <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="left-parenthesis a Subscript n Baseline right-parenthesis Subscript n"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:msub> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>a</mml:mi> <mml:mi>n</mml:mi> </mml:msub> </mml:mrow> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mi>n</mml:mi> </mml:msub> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex"> ( an )n</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> is a sequence of complex numbers, then there exists a <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="script upper C Superscript normal infinity"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mi class="MJX-tex-caligraphic" mathvariant="script">C</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mi mathvariant="normal"> ∞ </mml:mi> </mml:msup> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">\mathcal C^∞ </mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> -function <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="f"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>f</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">f</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> such that <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="f"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>f</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">f</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> and all its derivatives are rapidly decreasing functions, <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="f left-parenthesis t right-parenthesis equals 0"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>f</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mn>0</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">f ( t ) = 0</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> for <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="t greater-than 0"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> <mml:mo>></mml:mo> <mml:mn>0</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">t > 0</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> and <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="integral Subscript 0 Superscript plus normal infinity Baseline t Superscript n Baseline f left-parenthesis t right-parenthesis d t equals a Subscript n Baseline"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mo> ∫ </mml:mo> <mml:mn>0</mml:mn> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:mi mathvariant="normal"> ∞ </mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:msubsup> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> <mml:mi>n</mml:mi> </mml:msup> </mml:mrow> <mml:mi>f</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mi>d</mml:mi> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>a</mml:mi> <mml:mi>n</mml:mi> </mml:msub> </mml:mrow> </mml:mrow> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">∫ 0 + ∞ tnf ( t )dt = an</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> .
