Abstract

In Limousin, lack of information on the definition of various wetlands present and regulation strengthening, complexity, have increased wetlands abandonment risk by farmers. This project aims to reconcile agriculture maintenance in "difficult areas" with water resources preservation. This project was based on a multidisciplinary agro-environmental study. 12 Limousin watersheds were chosen and analyzed. The collected information of the agro-environment study (325 farmers surveyed) has described in detail the farms. The phytosociological inventory relies on hundreds of records. The identified floristic series were related to ecological characteristics (Ellenberg indices, specific richness, floristic composition). Soil inventory has identified and characterize all soils (texture, depth exploitable by roots, rocks load, usable water reserves and hydromorphy). The hydrological study shows that chemical facies vary from one watershed to another, influenced by atmospheric factors, soil factors or linked to environments rich in organic matter (peat bogs and “paratourbeux” meadows) or anthropogenic. he crossed statistical analysis of these data led to a technical guide bringing together tip sheets, broken down by type of vegetation. Farmers and advisors now have technical references for a sustainable management of agricultural wetlands.
