The challenge of the CoSAC project was to be able to reconcile reductions in herbicide use, the preservation of biodiversity and the maintenance of agricultural production and income. Surveys were carried out among farmers and their advisors on the Neubourg plateau (Eure), where the emergence of herbicide resistance could, a priori, be favourable to the deployment of alternative solutions. The objectives of this study were to gain a better understanding of farmers' current practices, to find out their diagnosis of the origin of weed control problems and to identify the lock-ins and levers, within farms and the socio-technical system, for the emergence of solutions to significantly reduce the use of herbicides.
