Abstract

Abstract Youth addiction is a critical public health issue, with early onset of substance use posing significant long-term consequences. This systematic literature review synthesizes findings on epidemiology, risk factors, preventive strategies, and early intervention models associated with youth addiction. Following PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive search across four major databases retrieved 109 studies, with 31 meeting inclusion criteria. Variables analyzed include preventive and early intervention strategies and their outcomes in addiction prevention. Key findings highlight the effectiveness of school-based programs, community initiatives, family interventions, and policy measures. The review also discusses the role of behavioral and pharmacological treatments and innovative digital tools in comprehensive care. Barriers such as stigma, access to care, and societal challenges are addressed, offering a holistic understanding of the field. This review concludes by identifying research gaps and advocating for collaborative action among policymakers, educators, healthcare providers, and communities to combat youth addiction effectively.
