Abstract

The beautiful dartfish, Ptereleotris kallista Randall et Suzuki, 2008, is first recorded from Taiwan based on four specimens and a fresh photograph of an additional unretained specimen collected after typhoon events. Previously, this species was known from Luzon, the Philippines and the Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea; therefore, our specimens represent the northernmost record of this species. A detailed description and photographs of the Taiwanese specimens are provided and compared to the type specimens, with observed variations documented and discussed.
