Abstract

We present a study of \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath-KS0KS0(\ensuremathπ0)\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ and \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→K^\ensuremath-KS0KS0(\ensuremathπ0)\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ decays using a data set of 430 million \ensuremathτ lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 468 fb^\ensuremath-1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e^\ensuremath- storage rings. We measure branching fractions of (2.31\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.04\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.08)\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-4 and (1.60\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.20\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.22)\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-5 for the \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath-KS0KS0\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ and \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath-KS0KS0\ensuremathπ0\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ decays, respectively. We find no evidence for \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→K^\ensuremath-KS0KS0\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ and \ensuremathτ^\ensuremath-\ensuremath→K^\ensuremath-KS0KS0\ensuremathπ0\ensuremathν_\ensuremathτ decays and place upper limits on the branching fractions of 6.3\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-7 and 4.0\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi10^\ensuremath-7 at the 90% confidence level.
