The best direct limits on absolute neutrino mass come from tritium \ensuremathβ decay. This work discusses in detail how molecular effects distort the \ensuremathβ-decay spectrum following decay of the tritium molecule. It closes an open detail in setting a stringent limit on the neutrino mass from the shape of the tritium spectrum.
