Abstract

Strategy is the long-term approach to implement a firm's business plans to achieve its mission. An effective strategy is that in which an organization has already defined its mission, strategies and the tactics that are required to deliver. The aim is to have a strategy for moving BCM (business continuity management) forward which is supported by the business. This is something which cannot be done in isolation or in a vacuum where individual and individual's team are the only ones who understand what an individual is trying to achieve. Gaining support for the BCM strategy is key to its successful implementation, and gaining that support means including the management team in its development. Flexibility and innovation are the keys to survival in business and these also apply to the BCM strategy. Developing a strategy which is resilient to change and flexible enough to move with the business strategy, ensuring that individual is never far from what is important in the minds of the business leaders.
