The paper offers a lexical analysis of a fragment from an unidentified Euripidean play (fr. 971 Kn.), aiming to demonstrate that it can be attributed to Phaethon. It becomes evident that the symbolic meaning of certain words is not random, because fr. 971 Kn. is connected to Phaethon’s mythical context, which is characterized by the flames of Helios’chariot.
