We study B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψ\ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi and B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψK^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi decays in a sample of about 89\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi106 BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B factory at SLAC. We observe a signal of 244\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi20 B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψ\ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi events and determine the ratio B(B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψ\ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi)/B(B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψK^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi) to be [5.37\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.45(stat)\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.11(syst)]%. The charge asymmetries for the B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψ\ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi and B^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi\ensuremath→J/\ensuremathψK^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi decays are determined to be A_\ensuremathπ=0.123\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.085(stat)\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.004(syst) and AK=0.030\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.015(stat)\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.006(syst), respectively.
