Abstract

We present a measurement of time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in decays of neutral B mesons to the final states D^*\ensuremath∓\ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi, using approximately 82\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi106 BB events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e^\ensuremath- storage ring. Events containing these decays are selected with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the high-momentum \ensuremathπ^\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi from the B decay and the low-momentum \ensuremathπ^\ensuremath∓ from the D^*\ensuremath∓ decay are used. We measure the amplitude of the asymmetry to be \ensuremath-0.063\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.024(stat)\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.014(syst) and compute bounds on |sin(2\ensuremathβ+\ensuremathγ)|.
