Abstract

We present measurements of the branching fractions B(B0\ensuremath→D^*\ensuremath-Ds*+) and B(Ds+\ensuremath→\ensuremathφ\ensuremathπ+), based on 123\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fi106 \ensuremathΥ(4S)\ensuremath→BB decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e^\ensuremath- B factory. A partial reconstruction technique is used to measure B(B0\ensuremath→D^*\ensuremath-Ds*+) and the decay chain is fully reconstructed to measure the branching fraction product B(B0\ensuremath→D^*\ensuremath-Ds*+)\ifmmode×\else\texttimes\fiB(Ds+\ensuremath→\ensuremathφ\ensuremathπ+). Comparing these two measurements provides a model-independent determination of the Ds+\ensuremath→\ensuremathφ\ensuremathπ+ branching fraction. We obtain B(B0\ensuremath→D^*\ensuremath-Ds*+)=(1.88\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.09\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.17)% and B(Ds+\ensuremath→\ensuremathφ\ensuremathπ+)=(4.81\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.52\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.38)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.
