Abstract

We present a measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in B0\ensuremath→\ensuremathπ+\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath- decays based on a 41.8 fb^\ensuremath-1 data sample collected at the \ensuremathΥ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e^\ensuremath- collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral B meson as a B0\ensuremath→\ensuremathπ+\ensuremathπ^\ensuremath- CP eigenstate and identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson from its decay products. From the asymmetry in the distribution of the time intervals between the two B meson decay points, we obtain the CP-violating asymmetry parameters S_\ensuremathπ\ensuremathπ=\ensuremath-1.21_\ensuremath-0.27+0.38(stat)_\ensuremath-0.13+0.16(syst) and A_\ensuremathπ\ensuremathπ=+0.94_\ensuremath-0.31+0.25(stat)\ifmmode±\else\textpm\fi0.09(syst).
