We are thrilled to be writing the editorial for the inaugural issue of <em>Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice</em>. In this editorial, we describe how we came to our roles as co-editors of this journal by tracing our independent yet intersecting academic journeys. The journal and our position with it represent a convergence of our shared belief that educational psychology has both the tools and the responsibility to engage more directly with the pressing policy and practice challenges shaping students’ lives. We then describe our goals for this inaugural issue and briefly introduce each invited essay. This is followed by a brief tribute to one of our esteemed mentors, David Berliner, who passed away in the fall of 2025.
