This chapter delves into the lived experience of a woman who struggled in a marriage that almost negated her personhood. When her marriage was annulled, she tried to reclaim her worth and rebuild her life. And then she finds love with another woman and she wants this to matter. But then she asks, “Could I be open about my relationship with another woman in the Church and still be recognized?” Her lived experience could open pathways for a woman like her to journey with the Church. What avenues are open for her to be listened to and be seen in her current relationship status? This is explored using the Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Her story, while particular and personal, may carry a larger implication on what it means to be a synodal Church that lives under the shadow of God’s mercy and grace.
