Abstract

Structural Fragility and Environmental Coupling: The Compression–Resonance–Tension Index (CRTI) in Complex Systems Authors Bernd von Mallinckrodt Description This paper introduces the Compression–Resonance–Tension Index (CRTI), a conceptual framework for diagnosing structural fragility in complex systems. The model proposes that systemic stability depends on the balance between structural compression (Φ), environmental coupling (Reff), internal tension (Δ), and strategic reserve (Ω). By expressing these variables in a dimensionless stability index, the framework provides a cross-domain perspective on why highly optimized systems often become vulnerable to sudden collapse. The concept of Singularization describes the loss of adaptive variance caused by excessive structural compression.
