The central idea is that detectability is not solely an intrinsic property of the underlying dynamical system, but is jointly determined by the spectral structure of the system and the geometry of the observation operator. For linear stochastic systems near a fold bifurcation, the observable Fisher information determinant is shown to scale as det gobs(μ) ~ |λ₁(μ)|^(−2r), where r denotes the projection rank of the observer onto the critical eigenspace. This yields a discrete detectability hierarchy: observers without projection onto the critical direction exhibit no divergent warning signal, whereas aligned observers generate characteristic scaling laws. The manuscript connects geometric observability, Fisher information geometry, and critical-transition theory, and provides a possible explanation for several known negative results in the early-warning-signal literature. The scope is intentionally conservative and restricted to linear or locally linearized stationary systems near smooth fold bifurcations.
