Abstract

A previously observed 1-o-carboranyl iodine( iii ) bis(triflate) has been isolated. Its reactivity with chlorocarbons to form new triflate esters, with an arene to give a C-I-C aryl-carboranyl iodonium salt, and unsaturation of n -alkanes are described.
