Abstract

Description This open-access manuscript introduces Measurement Architecture Dynamics (MAD) as a domain-independent conceptual research framework for adaptive observation in complex systems. Rather than proposing a new mathematical theorem or universal law, the work synthesizes established concepts from observability theory, control theory, information geometry, information bottleneck, active sensing, sensor scheduling, AI safety, and resilience engineering into a coherent conceptual perspective. The manuscript examines how measurement configurations and observation architectures can be viewed as evolving components of complex systems and identifies the mathematical questions that emerge from this perspective. It provides a structured research agenda, clearly distinguishes established results from proposed concepts and open problems, and outlines future directions including dynamic observability, coupled stability analysis, adaptive measurement configuration, and information-theoretic properties of evolving observation processes. The work is intended as a conceptual contribution and interdisciplinary research framework to support future mathematical developments and experimental validation, including potential connections with reproducible benchmark platforms such as BenchEWS. Keywords Measurement Architecture Dynamics; Adaptive Observation; Observability Theory; Control Theory; Nonlinear Dynamical Systems; Information Geometry; Fisher Information; Information Bottleneck; Active Sensing; Sensor Scheduling; AI Safety; Complex Adaptive Systems; Resilience Engineering; Conceptual Framework; Scientific Synthesis.
