The mastery of specialized genres is a competence that represents a great difficulty for students in training. Their lack of mastery can impede or delay the process of enculturation of an individual in a community. In order to adequately train students in disciplinary discursive practices, empirical data on the linguistic-discursive characteristics of the texts they must produce are necessary. Within the framework of the qualitative research type, this study aims to describe the linguistic and discursive features of depersonalization and positioning in the medical genre medical record. The corpus compiles 52 medical records produced by medical students at a Chilean university. The results of the study show the schematic structure of the medical record, and a taxonomy of the diverse linguistic and discursive features used to position or hide the author’s voice in each of its sections. These results would be useful to implement a pedagogy of this written medical genre.
