The state of the art on the so-called «digital discourse analysis» is characterized by the conceptual dispersion and atomization of the investigated subjects; this situation requires the search for a theoretical level in which greater precision may be possible. The bibliographic review does not allow to ensure that the digital nature of the data is a sufficient feature to identify an object of study in itself. The most frequent discursive features in bibliography (topic, modality, technological context, participants, genres) are reviewed, and it is concluded that textual genre is the most suitable variable to identify digital data. Finally, an inventory of relevant features is proposed to characterize digital genres.
