Abstract

The permelcanid Sinelcana azari gen. nos et sp. nov. is described from the late Capitanian Yinping Formation of Anhui Province. It is the first record of the family Permelcanidae from China. While the other Permelcanidae originated from the Permian arid tropical or temperate zones, the new fossil lived in a humid tropical area, suggesting that this group was widespread during Permian.
