New roachoids (Dictyoptera: Spiloblattinidae) from the ‘red’ Permian of Gonfaron (Southern France)

Abstract

Pycnoblattina valeriea sp. nov. youngest representative of this genus of Spiloblattinidae: Permoblattininae Vishniakova, 1993, is described from the Wordian (ca 267–265 Ma, Guadalupian) of the ‘red’ Permian outcrop of Gonfaron (Var department, southern France). It suggests that this genus, till now only known from the early Permian, survived till the end-Guadalupian crisis. Another roachoid was found in the same outcrop, based on a smaller forewing, insufficiently preserved to be attributed to a precise family or genus.
