When players play games by operating a controller to manipulate Player-Characters (PC), at one moment, they are them.Players recognize PCs as themselves and play PCs' role in the video-game fictions. But, next moment, they are not them anymore.Players suddenly stay away from PCs and regard PCs as others. Thus, players' recognitions towards PCs change between "themselves" and "not-themselves".Furthermore, through these recognition changes, it seems that players even revise PCs' roles in the game stories. To reveal these recognition changes and correlation between players and PCs, I simplified a structure of them by analyzing video-ethnographies of players' gameplay. As a result, 4 types of recognition have appeared.By considering these 4 types of recognition, using mainly Mead's (1934) theory of "I and Me" and "Role-making", I tried to understand sociologically the correlation between players and PCs.
