Six species of a fissurellid (keyhole limpet) genus Emarginula Lamarck, 1801 have been confused with eight primary homonyms. The full synonymies and the valid names of these taxa are given. Emarginula crassa J. Sowerby, 1813 has the following five junior subjective synonyms: E. decussata Philippi, 1844 (junior homonym of E. decussata Münster, 1841), E. gigantea Seguenza, 1863 (junior homonym of E. gigantea Coquand, 1859), E. crassalta Wood, 1874, E. (E.) magnifica Pilsbry, 1891, and E. anassa Dean, 1926. E. decussata Münster in Goldfuss, 1841 is a valid name but has not been used after the original description except for MolluscaBase and may be regarded as a nomen oblitum. E. gigantea Coquand, 1859 is valid. E. poppeorum Romani and Crocetta in Romani et al., 2017 is valid as the replacement name of E. gigantea Poppe, 2008 (junior homonym of E. gigantea Coquand, 1859 and E. gigantea Seguenza, 1863). E. (Tugali) decussata A. Adams, 1852 has long been used for a Japanese/Korean species belonging to Tugali Gray, 1843, but it is a junior homonym of E. decussata Münster, 1841 and E. decussata Philippi, 1844 and invalid. E. (Tugalia [sic]) angusta Thiele, 1915, which has been regarded a junior synonym of E. decussata A. Adams, revives as valid and should be transferred to Tugali. E. angusta McLean, 1970 is the junior homonym of E. angusta Thiele and a new replacement name E. jamesmcleani nom. nov. is proposed herein.
