Abstract A novel synthetic method utilizes visible light to promote acridinium-catalyzed acylation of substituted isoquinoline via aldehydes in an air atmosphere at room temperature is reported. This method involves the formation of C–C bonds to synthesize the desired product with an excellent yield. This organophotoredox-catalyzed, transition-metal-free synthetic process provides the target compounds in an immensely sustainable manner despite tolerating a broad range of functional groups.
