Diagnosis of thyroid cancer has a significant impact to the patient, as the activities in daily life, daily time schedules and also work efficiency may be affected by the disease. Recent improvements in the treatment of thyroid cancer have resulted in prolonged survival times. Fast recovery and reintegration into the labor process are therefore of central importance for the patients. Return to the previous work after completion of primary treatment is not always possible. Approximately 2/3 of patients with thyroid carcinoma are still in employment. Return to the labor market is of increasing importance to patients with thyroid cancer, as society ages as a whole with the effect of increasing age of retirement. This paper deals with the rehabilitation, assessment and evaluation of related disorders and impairments after treatment of thyroid cancer and linked to this with the professional reintegration into work life (sociomedical assessment of performance).
